Almost ten years ago, on September 14, 2015, a new era of astronomy began. Since then, we have been observing the Universe in a completely new way: with gravitational waves.
With a worldwide network of kilometer-sized detectors, an international research community regularly “listens in” on the collisions of black holes and neutron stars. This lecture reveals what we learn about these exotic celestial objects and our Universe from these observations, how these observations work, and what the future holds for this field of research.
