On 14 September 2015, a new age of astronomy began. Since then, we have been observing the universe in a completely new way: with gravitational waves.
With a worldwide network of kilometer-sized detectors, an international research community is “eavesdropping” on collisions of black holes and neutron stars. So far, they have observed more than 90 of these events in the depths of space. This talk will explain what we can learn about these exotic celestial objects, how these observations work, and what we can expect in the fourth observing run, which is now beginning.
