Thomas Oppermann passed away at the age of 66

The AEI Hannover mourns the politician from Lower Saxony

“It was with great sadness that we learned of the death of Thomas Oppermann. As Lower Saxony's Minister of Science, he inaugurated the AEI Hannover in 2002 and before and after that he accompanied, supported and initiated numerous projects. We are losing a friend of the institute and mourn with his relatives,” say Prof. Karsten Danzmann and Prof. Bruce Allen, directors at the Max Planck Institute for Gravitational Physics (Albert Einstein Institute, AEI) in Hanover.
